In their recent report, “ICD-10: Preparing for October 2013,” the research firm KLAS found that less than ten percent of providers have made it to the halfway mark in terms of their readiness for ICD-10. While providers understand the implications ICD-10 can have on their revenue cycle, most organizations are still only in the planning phase of preparation. Those organizations that have been proactive in their ICD-10 preparation say that “ICD-10 is a complex and costly initiative- one that will require significant time and resources.”
Bottom line: Start preparing for ICD-10 now so you don’t pay for it later.
